Lignotrend
For Lignotrend I conceived, designed and developed a web-based product configurator for custom acoustic panels.
Users choose from a wide range of wood species, profiles and surface finishes and get a real-time visual preview, both as a front view and in cross-section.
Challenge
The real challenge was not the design but the logic behind it: not every combination of wood species, profile and surface finish is technically possible. Several product levels interlock and restrict each other. The configurator detects these conflicts automatically, resolves them and suggests valid alternatives, without users needing to understand the logic behind it.
UX concept
Despite the complexity underneath, using it should feel simple. Every choice shows up in the preview immediately, so users can follow the effect of their decisions directly. The configurator is fully responsive and works on tablets and smartphones too.
Result
I was responsible for UX, UI and front end on this project, from designing the configuration logic through the visual design to the implementation in the browser. The result is a tool that makes a complex product range accessible without limiting its variety.
